Personal History
I was born and raised in London, England and involvement in the dog world began in 1957 at the tender age of 10 years when I delivered my first litter of pups.  I was hooked from that point.  During my youth and teens, I worked at local kennels on weekends and school holidays.  After graduating College in London, my thoughts of owning my own kennel had to be put on hold as the family decided to emigrate to Canada.

My dream came true in the early seventies when my husband, Bob and I had the opportunity to move to Huntsville.  We purchased our home with six acres of beautiful Muskoka land and started our kennel.

Our family name "Chartwell" for those of you that don't already know is named after Sir Winston Churchill's country home.  Mr. Churchill was a man I grew up to admire and respect so when we were looking for a kennel name, it was the first name that came to mind.  Bob has been the main "bread winner" for all of the thirty years and has always been there to add support, take care of maintenance, working with the stud dogs and helping to deliver pups when he wasn't working.
